Praying and Reconciling Oneself

17/10/19 – Random Thoughts and Reflections

While the Zambian Social Media is awash with Engineering, Economics, Lechwes & 48 mysterious Houses issues some of which are viewed through the Political and tribal cousin Lenses, the Christian Country is busy finalising preparations for the National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and reconciliation, set for October 18, 2019.

The day of prayer will be held under the theme “Receiving Times of Refreshing from the presence of the Lord through Reconciliation with one another and the environment for a prosperous Zambia.”

Zambian Youth, Political Cadres and violent citizens please take heed. Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect. – Mark Twain

Don’t settle for just any violent activity when you can benefit from purposeful, focused accomplishment. Fill your time with the actions that will fill your life with value. You get paid K100, you drink Chibuku, become violent and the machete wielding cadres from the other camp hack your forehead. You have to spend time, hospital bills, transportation money, man hours in the hospital in addition to lost income and opportunities.

Let us all ask ourselves sincerely; What things are you planning to do in the next hour, over the rest of the day? Over the next week or the next month? When you look back later at how you spent your time today, will you be filled with gratitude or filled with regret?

In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit. – Albert Schweitzer
Apparently it is rare that you can have such an encounter from a shebeen, tavern, bars or nightclubs! Chances are that you overspend, get searched lose money and end up with a terrible hangover which makes one not very effective or unproductive the following day!

Today could be your opportunity to improve all the rest of your days. If you squander these particular moments (especially the energetic youths) you’ll never get them back. After 50, you start experiencing body aches from nowhere! You are slowed down in life and get limited by what you can do or which files you can push!

The greatest influence and leverage you’ll ever have over your future, is now. Choose to use that influence in a positive, productive, intentional way.

During the day of National prayer, kindly do some self soul searching and self introspection. You can reconcile with yourself or with immediate family members. Even if you don’t go to the show grounds or Kitwe where High Ranking Political Leadership will be, you may consider taking the time to stop and appreciate who you are and what you’ve achieved and perhaps learned through a few mistakes, stumbles and losses – you actually can enhance everything about you.

Self-acknowledgment and appreciation are what give you the insights and awareness to move forward toward higher goals and accomplishments. – Jack Canfield

Sure, it’s tempting to waste a few minutes, or several hours, or the whole day with publicly declared holidays in our National Calendars with meaningless diversions and aimlessly walking and wondering about. But before you do that remind yourself of the much better alternative. You can choose instead to use your time wisely, to create value that could improve your whole future for your self or close family members. And that’s a choice you’ll never have to regret. Train sincerely and run with the aim to get the prize. You will surely one day reward yourself (HEMCS – mhsriep – used to say YOWA Selufu). Stay well and be blessed folks – KKK999
